Progress Report
It's all coming together!!
As of today, I have written and posted more pages of notes than Msdz27 had revision notes- that means that I've written more physics notes in the last 20 days than past students used for the entire course! Of those notes, they split fairly evenly at 15 pages apiece on unit 1 and unit 2, although to be fair, 7 pages of the unit 2 notes are in fact a vector test which I wrote and then did as revision.
I have written up proofs of most of the As formula booklet as it looks to me, I will see if I can do the potential divider equation and the fringe spacing equation done at some point (I have worked out how to derive the former, but don't have much info on the experment the latter is based upon). Oh, and I met see how hard it is to show that the root mean square of a sinusoidal wave is root two. But that's really a maths question, not a physics one.
In total, I think that I've pretty well covered most of unit 1, I'm just mising out a few details about emmission spectra and the photovoltaic effect (including the equation for work function). Unit 2... well we've covered the nuts and bolts with units and vectors. Really, there's only one equation that governs kinematics, and another one that governs dynamics and statics, so we ought to get on alright I think. Waves has always been a bit of a weak point, so that may have to wait until we actually cover that in class (although I will put up preliminary notes at some point before that in case anyone is reading this and needs them).
Overall, I think the best indicator of progress is that I'm going to need to redesign the study notes page so that I can fit all the buttons in! I might just split it into two pages on unit 1 physics and unit 2 physics. But that can wait for another week.
Happy physics everyone reading this! Good luck revising for your A levels!
